Lockdown Lifting & Your Mental Health

Lockdown Lifting and Your Mental Health

With lockdown measures being lifted throughout the United Kingdom, many of us will use this opportunity to resume doing the things we love that we have missed out on for over a year. Whether it be playing team sports, travelling or personal contact with loved ones there’s bound to be something that you are looking forward to be doing again.

But unfortunately for some of us, especially those who are more vulnerable to the virus and those with mental health concerns, the lifting of restrictions and re-adjustment back to ‘normal’ life can be a significant worry, even more so when the science behind it is still being debated.

The NHS campaign, Every Mind Matters, have given us 11 very helpful tips on how to cope with anxiety about coming out of lockdown. See below:

  1. Go at your own pace
  2. Do not avoid things entirely
  3. Get your information from the right sources
  4. Discuss any changes with others
  5. Make time to relax
  6. Challenge unhelpful thoughts
  7. Tell someone how you feel
  8. Plan social occasions
  9. Find routine where you can
  10. Write down your thoughts
  11. Focus on the present
